About B4RN

B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North) is a community benefit society that builds and operates a community-owned symmetric gigabit full-fibre network across rural Lancashire, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. The model relies on community share offers, volunteer labour for routes, and a deliberate not-for-private-profit structure that reinvests surpluses into further build. B4RN is widely regarded internationally as a model for community-owned rural fibre and has been profiled in academic and policy work as a counterpoint to purely commercial rollout models.
